Hi all,

I'm so angry right now, I'm partially posting here to warn everyone in the community, partially asking for advice, and partially posting just to vent.

10 days ago, I purchased a gym membership at the women's only gym, Aerobie Plus, on Ste-Catherine's and St-Andre, near where I live. It was only 100 bucks, and for a year, which was nice, because my university gym membership had expired. Aerobie Plus looked fairly legit, with decent machines, showers, and even classes. Then, without warning, just a few days ago, it shut down. The phone line is disconnected. Basically, I paid 100 bucks and got 10 days worth of service. Sketchy much?

So I called the other Aerobie Plus location, located at Honore-Beaugrand, and apparently I need to mail them my contract, wait 10 days, and then show up at the Honore-Beaugrand location in person to get my refund.

And when I further inquired, the receptionist at the desk did in fact acknowledge that Arif El-Hakim owns this branch too. A google search with his name turned up the following ad offering to sell gym equipment: http://www.canada-annonces.com/Sports-141784.html

Another google search showed that the number that "my" gym used to have previously belonged to an Aerobie Plus branch on Clark that had shut down even longer before that. It smells like a scam.

So ... I guess, I'm looking for advice. I definitely don't want to mail in my contract, at least not the original, just in case they take it and never get back to me. I also don't want to waste my time going all the way to Honore-Beaugrand only to find out that even the refund part completely bogus. Is there anything I can do to get my money back? Anyone else also got fucked over by Aerobie Plus?

Lindsay Lohan is going hip-hop on her next album – and Ryan Seacrest is impressed.

“I’ve heard some of it, I like what I’ve heard so far,” Seacrest told PEOPLE backstage at KIIS-FM’s annual Wango Tango concert in Irvine, Calif., on Saturday. Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers performed at the show.

“Lindsay is taking it very seriously,” said Seacrest, 33. “She’s working really hard. She’s working with great producers.”

The host added, “She’s told me that she’s going to come in and debut the entire record with me on my KIIS-FM [radio show]. We’re going to play some of the songs, and go through the whole thing together.”

At the Saturday concert, Lohan, 21, told Wango Tango fans that her untitled CD (due on Motown records later this year) will include collaborations with Akon, Pharrell Williams, Ne-Yo and Snoop Dogg. An exclusive preview of her new song, “”Bossy”,” was posted on PEOPLE.com last week.

The album is another sign that Lohan is getting back to work after her stint in rehab last year. She is also shooting a five-episode arc on Ugly Betty, including this season’s finale, that will continue into next fall.

It looks like the recent Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1, which installs J2SE 6 v1.6.0_05, may break TiVoToGo functionality in Roxio products. MacFixIt has the details, which is based on user reports in the Roxio support forums and MacFixIt readers. The update is not supposed to change the system Java Preference setting, but it appears that it does, at least for some users. The solution, aside from not installing the Java update, appears to be setting the system Java Preference to the old version. At least until an update that corrects the problem is available. So I walked to the Portland Saturday Market and there were some "musician" bums making noise under the bridge.   In a very, of course, crowded area.   This is the picture i took:


I am snapping pictures here and there of the market and some of Portlands culture which includes many dirty drug addicted looking bum youths.  So after taking a picture of the group of bums, I hear the girl telling the guy to come up to me and i'm thinking "oh boy.."  So this guy with the hats and dreds comes up and says rudely "Hey, are you going to pay for that picture"  to which i respond "No."  He says "Well I think you should OK"  and I'm like "This is public property, I can take any pictures I want."   And he says "These are people ok, not just scenery ok".  Something very idiot sounding like that to which i say "That is a matter of opionion."  ANd then he grumbles some other nonsense about how he thinks i should delete it (very enlightening).

I was a bit annoyed at this confrontation.  Bums are usually nice, at least at first.  They usually ask for money nicely not as if you owe it to them, then they usually smile and say thanks when you refuse if they are somewhat business savvy and know perhaps tomorrow you'll be more so inclined.  But no, these ones were idiots, with the IQ of a 5 year old.  If he would have kept on I would have called the police.

Just wanted to share that story with you all and encourage photographers to keep taking any pictures they want on public property and not hand over property or succumb to assholes who think you have to pay them or threaten to call their lawyer.   I also just wanted to make sure this picture got on the internet :)

James Garner's publicist says the veteran TV and film star has been hospitalized in Los Angeles after suffering a minor stroke at his home last week.

Publicist Jennifer Allen said Tuesday that the star of "Maverick" and "The Rockford Files" was hospitalized Friday. Allen says Garner is doing well and will be going home soon.

Garner, who turned 80 last month, rose to prominence in the 1950s as "Maverick," a wry riverboat gambler who, unlike his TV contemporaries, would often run rather than fight.

He's better known to younger audiences for playing Katey Sagal's father in the sitcom "8 Simple Rules ... For Dating My Teenage Daughter."

Effie Has Math Problems!




He's just hours away from performing live in front of millions of people, but 17-year-old "American Idol" wonderboy David Archuleta still has a few problems to work out -- problems of the high school math kind.

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ that David has been with his tutor on the set, gettin' his state-mandated learnin' on.

Looks like a passion for math runs in the Archuleta family. As TMZ first reported, his dad Jeff just got a lesson in subtraction late last week.
